Q 1. Explain two ways the characters and/ or events fit the action adventure genre.

there are ways that the film the hurt locker has characters that fit the action adventure genre because it involves the protagonists trying to solve the problem. in the film the protagonist is on a mission to defuse the bomb that is attached to a so called terrorist which is helpless and had been sent out their to kill them but pleads that he wants to cause no harm to them as himself does not want to die as he has as family and wants the protagonist to defuse the bomb off his body. This fits the action adventure genre as it fits the fact that there is a bomb in the film and army people with weapons etc. also the way the antagonist is being aggressive also fits into the action adventure genre. fast paced action camera shots.

Q2. Explain how each of the following is used to create effects:

soundtrack: This film has several soundtracks as it as uses a tense sound as the protagonist approaches the antagonist the soundtrack gives us that nail biting tense effect this is to show how nervous and how risky it is helping the antagonist as he has a suicide bomb attached to him.

Editing: Fast paced editing is used when the antagonist is getting helped by the protagonist as he is trying to defuse the bob to save his and their life and as he is trying to defuse it quickly it builds tension and has the effect that the action is taking place quickly.

Soundtrack
The soundtrack is notably used to create effect for the audience which fit the genre. When the entrance of the hero cage arrives on the scene he has majestic soundtrack to allow the audience which emulates the heroes power and status. So the soundtrack is used in the genre to emphasize the protagonist to the audience. The soundtrack also creates tension and gives a clear point to the audience. This film uses sound bridge as they use the same sound whilst changing scene which shows us that the scene is linked to the other one and gives the audience a sense is linked together. Asynchronous sound is used when a supposed happy scene is occurring and a sad/unhappy background song is used this builds up tension as the audience are left guessing in why it has happened and makes the next scene much more intense and much more exciting ad is used in edge of tomorrow when they have been successful in defeating the enemy but the sound is does not relate so there could be a twist. Synchronous sound is used quite frequently in this film as when the action/shooting occurred and the sound you would expect to hear comes on which would be war conventions like explosions tank sounds machine guns’ sound etc.
Camera
Establishing shot is used frequently as it sets the scene up, in the film few times of a war convention so the establishing shot sometimes was soldiers marching on the beach which was an establishing shot as it lets the audience know a little about what the scene is going to be like. Ariel shot is a high angle shot they call it extreme as it shows an angle which shows a lot of the picture. An Ariel shot is used a lot in edge of tomorrow as it had shown a large picture of the hero and villain fighting it out and gives almost a mutual prospect as it showing it from above in the middle of them. A point of view shot is used when cage was arming the gun showing that he is much more experienced as a soldiers. Steadicam was used when the protagonists cage goes to shoot antagonist alien and Steadicam used to smooth down the action to make it softer and less violent.
Mise-en-scene
Mise-en-scène is predominantly utilised at the start of the extract with cage carrying around all the armour to make him stand out and higher up, to the effect of conveying his power and presence. In addition, Mise-en-scene features a distinctive costume, to further isolate him from the antagonists and make him stand-out to the audience.
Editing
Editing is also utilized in different ways which help heighten the action scenes. For example, slow paced editing is used to create an atmosphere and make the audience sense that something is going to happen. Then the editing speeds up this is normally when there is an imminent fight scene when cage fights the aliens and heightens the tension.

4b)discuss in detail how one programme offers audience pleasures. Give examples from the programme. [15 marks]
bad education shows a lot of comedy in their show and it also shows familiarity when Mr wickers is immature, foolish and allows the students to bully him. Transgression pleasures are used when they talk about poo and sexualisation of this in the school. it gives audience pleasure because the language and material used can be racist so they can laugh about the audlt humour and the racist jokes.
Narrative pleasures refer to the audience enjoying how the storyline is constructed. In situation comedy, the plot starts and ends in exactly the same place (narrative resolution). What happens in between is usually a snowballing narrative of one problem added onto another problem, This is usually caused by the stupid decisions of the character and the audience laugh as they make each poor choice.
Character identification is how the audience knows the characters well and can predict how they will behave. Audiences feel they can relate the the characters and they become well loved because of these predictable character traits. How does Mr Wickers appeal to the target audience? He is seen as the worse teacher ever but he is surrounded by some of the weirdest teachers who by comparison make him seem far better than any alternative. His intentions are good and the audience identify with him, even though he is immature and makes such cringe-worthy decisions.
Pleasure of recognition means audiences enjoy the anticipation of what a character will say next. Certain characters have catchphrases or typical behaviours that the audience expect to see. This makes them predictable and adds to them being well-loved by audiences who feel like they know the character well. The action happens in the same setting, which the audience are familiar with.
Pleasures of difference-within-repetition means that the audience can easily recognise this as a situation comedy but the show plays with the repetition of the same narrative structure. Each episode sees the characters facing alternative plots and comedy through the script but the same sort of events happen.

The reason it shows late evening is due to the fact it is based for adults and children go to bed,the channel 4 shows it is not as realistic and serious as BBC and concentrate more on the entertainment side.
Yes it is on after watershed as it uses strong language and inappropriate scenes for younger children.

The reason they are on late evening and BBC is because children who are young go to bed which allows the older teenagers and adults to watch this and they would understand the humor as they are more mature.
